Register for Girls on the Run

Elementary School Registration

Girls on the Run will begin the week of March 6, 2017 and will run through May 31, 2017. The 5K celebration is May 25, 2017.

Registration opened November 1 and closed November 16, 2016. LATE REGISTRATION is available on a first-come first served basis on teams with space remaining. Please call the GOTR office to inquire. 269-532-1220

COACHES join the team first! Girls on the Run requires two trained volunteer coaches per team at each practice in order to create the desired program experience. Coaches must be secured, have completed the coaching application, and be committed to the 10 week season before a team is open and available for registration sign up at each school/site location. If you would like to learn more about coaching opportunities, click below or email melisa@girlsontherunkazoo.org.

What does it cost to participate?

The cost of the program is $165 per girl for the twice per week, 10 week program. The cost  is reflective of the quality of the program and what your girl will receive. The program fee includes:

  • 20 lessons conducted by two certified Girls on the Run coaches (30 hrs of instruction)
  • a new pair of quality running shoes (fit by Gazelle Sports.)
  • two official Girls on the Run T-shirts
  • a healthy snack at each practice
  • a water bottle
  • Participation/registration & entry in the Girls on the Run 5K
  • a 5K finisher's medallion

The fee also covers council costs such as: liability insurance, background checks for all coaches and volunteers, website and online registration fees, 5k expenses and our GOTRI renewal membership fee which allows us to operate as a council. It is due to the generosity of grantors, donors & sponsors that GKGOTR is able to offer the program for $165 per girl.

*Program fees are non-refundable after February 20, 2017. A verbal or written request for a refund must be received by the Girls on the Run office on or before Feb. 20. All refunds are subject to a $10 processing fee.

Financial Assistance

Participants of Girls on the Run and their families who cannot afford to pay the full $165 registration, may opt for financial assistance (based on household income) and will pay from $5 to $164.  No girl is ever turned away from the program for financial reasons. Girls participate equally in the program regardless of their financial aid. Girls do need to complete the entire program in order to receive all of the benefits- including the shoes.

The financial sustainability of our program depends on our program fee.  The following scale is provided ONLY for families in need of financial assistance.  Local fund raising efforts and donations help to bridge the gap. Families that have the ability to and are interested in supporting the program beyond the $165 may choose to sponsor additional girls as well.

Reading the Scale:  Find the correct number for your household in the “# of Family Members in Household” and then look for your "Annual Income" to find the suggested program fee. Example: A household of 5 family members with an annual income of $40,000 would choose a registration fee of $75.
