*Please note, in an effort to make the program accessible to every girl, registration is NOT first-come, first-served. Participants will be randomly selected to fill the available team openings.

Girl Placement Day

Heart & Sole families will be notified of their registration status by email on, or shortly after, September 22nd. Families credit/debit cards will be charged for the agreed program fee on that date if their girl enters the program. If you have registration or scholarship questions, please contact Laura at 269.532.1220 or laura@girlsontherunkazoo.org.

What does it cost to participate?

The cost of the program is $165 per girl for the twice per week, 10 week program. The cost  is reflective of the quality of the program and what your girl will receive. The program fee includes:

  • 20 lessons conducted by two certified Heart & Sole coaches (30 hrs of instruction)
  • a new pair of quality running shoes (fit by Gazelle Sports.)
  • two official Heart & Sole T-shirts
  • a healthy snack at each practice
  • a water bottle
  • Participation/registration & entry in the end of season 5k
  • a 5K finisher's medallion

The fee also covers council costs such as: liability insurance, background checks for all coaches and volunteers, website and online registration fees, 5k expenses and our GOTRI renewal membership fee which allows us to operate as a council. It is due to the generosity of grantors, donors & sponsors that GKGOTR is able to offer the program for $165 per girl.

Registration Fee and Financial Assistance

Participants of Heart & Sole and their families who cannot afford to pay the full $165 registration, may opt for financial assistance (based on household income) and will pay from $5 to $164.  No girl is ever turned away from the program for financial reasons. Girls participate equally in the program regardless of their financial aid. Girls do need to complete the entire program in order to receive all of the benefits- including the shoes.

The financial sustainability of our program depends on our program fee.  The following scale is provided ONLY for families in need of financial assistance.  Local fund raising efforts and donations help to bridge the gap. Families that have the ability to and are interested in supporting the program beyond the $165 may choose to sponsor additional girls as well.

 Sliding Scale

*Program fees are non-refundable after September 22, 2016. A written request for a refund must be received by the Girls on the Run office on or before Sept. 22. All refunds are subject to a $10 processing fee.
