girls a brighter future.
The Greater Kalamazoo Girls on the Run 5k is the culmination of 10 weeks of training for over 2,000 3rd-5th grade girls and is open to the public. The program combines training for a 5k (3.1 miles) running event with healthy living education. The curricula empower girls with a greater sense of self-awareness, a sense of achievement and a foundation in team building, as well as a commitment to enhancing their communities, all of which help them become, strong contented and self-confident women.

Preparing for the 5k
Here are some tips we’d ask you to relay to your participant before arriving at the 5k.
The safety of our girls and all participants at the Girls on the Run 5k always is our first priority. We have a thorough safety plan in place for the event. Please click here for a detailed map which will provide a good snapshot of where our designated safety marshals, first aid volunteers and water/aid stations will be positioned along the 3.1 miles. Girls on the Run volunteers will line the course and our volunteer coaches are all First Aid and CPR certified and will participate in the run/walk alongside the girls.
Parking is available in all WMU parking lots surrounding Waldo Stadium, including the lot in front of the WMU Student Recreation Center. Handicapped parking is located in lot #7 on Stadium Drive. Parking attendants will be on-site to assist you. To see a WMU parking map, click here.
