Signing Up a Girl

Are you interested in signing up for a Girls on the Run® program? If so, you must contact the program site (i.e., the school) directly in mid November. Beginning in mid November of each year, area schools and organizations that have been approved as a host site will have the necessary registration forms and program schedule. Each site is also responsible for collecting the program fees. We are delivering GOTR in over 50 schools and community organizations in Greater Kalamazoo this spring.

Bringing the Program to Your School

Within Greater Kalamazoo, we deliver the program in all interested school districts that have a presence within Kalamazoo County (Otsego, Plainwell, Gull Lake, Parchment, Kalamazoo, Comstock, Galesburg-Augusta, Mattawan, Portage, Climax-Scotts, Schoolcraft, Vicksburg and Athens). Our territory is defined in conjunction with Girls on the Run International each year.

See Program Locations for a list of our 2008 sites.

If Girls on the Run is not in a school in our program area, we can help you bring the program your way.

What Does it Cost to Participate?

The actual out of pocket cost to the GOTR program is approximately $150 per girl for the twice per week, nine week program. This $150 covers the full cost of one child’s participation which includes:

  • A pair of New Balance Running Shoes
  • 18 lessons conducted by two certified GOTR Coaches
  • official GOTR T-shirt
  • participation in the 5K Celebration Event on the campus of Western Michigan University
  • a water bottle
  • a healthy snack at each practice

A family that can afford to pay $150 is asked to pay the full amount. Participants of Girls on the Run and their families who cannot afford to pay $150 choose a program fee ranging from $0 to $149. Girls participate equally in the program regardless of the fee their family selects. The following scale is provided for families to choose what they believe they can afford. It is essential that each family contribute as much as it can afford. Local fund raising efforts and donations help to bridge the gap between program fees paid and necessary sponsorship. Families that have the ability to and are interested in supporting the program beyond the $150 will have an opportunity to sponsor additional girls as well on the participant registration form.

Level I - $150
Level II - $100 to $149
Level III - $ 50 to $ 99
Level IV - $ 0 to $ 49
